Your level #1 Drama exam is looming and you should be well on the way with your study programme.
Format of the assessment:
You are to use sketches to support your written responses.
You will be required to describe and explain features of the Melodrama theatre form with reference to:
• performance space • a typical character • the social/historical context.
Your responses may vary in format, for example: • note form • sketches • paragraphs.
You will have only one hour to complete your answers for this external exam.
Ms Fridd :)
Level #1 Drama students - you have been learning about the genre of Melodrama all term and are now putting your knowledge to the test with the upcoming internal assessment performance. We have been using excerpts from Rodger Hall's Melodrama play "Dynamite" and you have to demonstrate your knowledge of melodrama techniques through your performance and characterisation.
As you are aware, before you perform you must complete some written portfolio work, in the form of a written statement of intention (as part of your whole performance group), and as an individual statement of intention - making a list of the features of the Melodrama form that you will use in your final performance.
You have to explain briefly how you will use these Melodrama features and what the purpose of each feature is. You were given the forms to write this on - so it should all be relatively easy!
Go to it! And good luck for the performance tomorrow during period #2 :)
